Meet Our DS

John Bonner came to the Demopolis District from Trinity UMC, Ft. Walton Beach in 2008. A native of Mobile, he grew up in the Oakdale Methodist Church (now The Inner City Mission). John and Paula met at Huntingdon College (Class of 1969) and have been married for 41 years. Their daughter Jennifer and her husband Sam live in Michigan along with Grandchildren Rebecca and David. Their son Joe lives in Mobile. John is a graduate of Candler School of Theology and completed the Upper Room 2 Year Academy for Spiritual Formation.

There is an often repeated phrase that “The Demopolis District is the best kept secret in the conference,” and that is true. The most rural of our Districts, it is a wonderful place to live and serve. Some of our churches are a bit smaller than those in other areas, but they are serving Christ where they are planted. Our larger churches are growing in grace and in participation thanks to excellent lay and clergy leadership!
